20-4.1   Removal Required.

The owner, occupant or tenant of premises abutting or bordering on any street in the Township shall remove all snow and ice from the abutting sidewalks of such streets, or in the event of ice which may be so frozen as to make removal impracticable, shall cause the same to be thoroughly covered with sand, ashes, salt, sawdust or some other nonslippery or adhesive substance so as to make the same safely passable, within twelve (12) hours of daylight after the same shall fall or be formed thereon. In addition to any other remedy provided by this section, any person who violates this section shall be subject to the penalty provided in Chapter I, Section 1-5. (Ord. No. 126-03 § 1)

20-4.3   Placing of Snow or Ice on Public Rights-of-Way Prohibited.

No person shall throw, place or deposit any snow or ice which has accumulated upon private property into or upon any public sidewalk, handicapped parking space, bicycle route or the paved portion of any public street in the Township or into or upon any area within the right-of-way lines of any street in such a way as to hinder the passage of persons, bicycles or obstruct vision. (Ord. No. 126-03 § 1)

7-10  Temporary Parking Prohibited for Snow Plowing and Removal.

a.     Whenever snow has fallen and the accumulation is such that it covers the street or highway, an emergency shall exist and no vehicle shall be parked on the following streets or highways or portions thereof:

The above parking prohibitions shall remain in effect after the snow has ceased, until the streets have been plowed sufficiently and to the extent that parking will not interfere with the normal flow of traffic.

b.     Any unoccupied vehicles parked or standing in violation of this subsection shall be deemed a nuisance and a menace to the safety and proper regulation of traffic and any police officer may provide for the removal of such vehicle. The owner shall pay the reasonable costs of the removal and storage which may result from such removal before regaining possession of the vehicle.

c.      The effectiveness of this subsection is contingent upon signs being erected as required by law at the Township borders.

 The Master Plan Committee meeting scheduled for December 8, 2014 has been cancelled.  There are no further meetings scheduled for the remainder of 2014.  The 2015 schedule of meetings will be posted on the township website once it has been approved.

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the following changes have been made to the previously scheduled Township Committee Open Public Meetings for the Township of Long Hill:
• November 26, 2014 Open Public Meeting: time changed to begin at 4:00 PM
[Executive/Closed Session will begin at 3:30]
• December 10, 2014 Open Public Meeting time changed to begin at 6:30 PM
[Executive/Closed Session will begin at 6:00 PM]

PUBLIC NOTICE IS HERBY GIVEN that the Township Committee of the Township of Long Hill will hold a Special Budget Work Session Meeting on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. in the Municipal Building located at 915 Valley Road, Gillette, New Jersey. Formal action may be taken.

MILLING AND PAVING will be taking place on Meyersville Road between Long Hill Road and the Meyersville Circle between November 21 and November 29, 2014. Please remember to drive with caution.

The playing fields at Kantor Memorial Park are CLOSED for repairs.  We anticipate the fields will remain closed until the spring.  Thank you for your understanding.
