Fact: In addition to the costs of the contractor to pick up your garbage, we have to pay an additional $95.50 per ton at the Transfer Station to have the garbage hauled to a landfill in Pennsylvania. That charge includes the operation of the transfer station, contractors to haul the garbage to Pennsylvania, the landfill charges, and the taxes that Pennsylvania imposes on imported garbage.
Fact: Long Hill sends about 3000 tons of garbage to the transfer station each year.
