LHT Police Dept. - Body Worn Cameras

The Long Hill Township Police Department has implemented a new body worn camera program with all officers trained and equipped as of today May 31, 2018.  Police Officers will be recording audio/visual interactions between police and citizens.  Body cameras are viewed as a valuable asset intended to assist department officers in the prosecution of certain offenders by augmenting an officer’s testimony with a video/audio recording of the incident.  Additionally, this equipment will enable supervisors to conduct mandatory periodic reviews of officer-citizen contacts for quality control purposes and aid in the investigation of citizen complaints.

The Long Hill Township Police Department was able to obtain approval for Axon’s National Field Trial Offer, which made it possible to obtain equipment and cloud storage for one year at no cost to the tax payers of Long Hill Township.

The Long Hill Township Police Department is committed to providing the highest level of police service to the residents of Long Hill Township.  The body worn camera program is another component to help us maintain the highest professional police standards available.  In implementing the body worn camera program, it demonstrates not only commitment to the community, but also commitment to the officers who day in and day out serve our citizens.
