New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police - Accreditation

A team of assessors from the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police (NJSACOP) visited the Long Hill Police Department on Thursday, May 30, 2024, and examined all aspects of the Long Hill Township Police Department’s policies and procedures, management, operations, and support services to determine compliance with 112 law enforcement best practice standards. Administered by the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police (NJSACOP), the Accreditation program requires agencies to comply with best practice standards in five basic areas: the administrative function, the personnel function, the operations function, the investigative function, and the arrestee/detainee function.

Members of the Long Hill Township Police Department appeared before the NJSACOP Accreditation Commission on June 13, 2024. The police department was found to be in compliance with all applicable accreditation standards. The NJSACOP Accreditation Commission unanimously voted to award the Long Hill Township Police Department accreditation standing.

In 1985, the Long Hill Township Police Department was the first police department in New Jersey to be accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA). In 2006, the police department received State of New Jersey accreditation status, from the NJSACOP, and held this status until 2022.

Long Hill Township Mayor Piserchia congratulates the police department on reestablishing their accreditation status.
